As Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU have become the dominant protocols for industrial field devices, the need to translate between them continues to grow. The Wutongbolian Industrial Smart Gateway performs Modbus RTU-to-Modbus TCP conversion: it collects data from instruments, sensors, and serial masters that speak Modbus RTU, encapsulates it into Modbus TCP, and streams it over the network to supervisory computers (HMI/SCADA), enabling a full range of intelligent applications.
The gateway can connect to PLCs, instruments, energy meters, and other devices. After protocol parsing and normalization at the edge, the data is reformatted into Modbus TCP and forwarded to the supervisory system (touch panels, configuration software, etc.), allowing operators to monitor and manage industrial equipment in real time.

1. Device-protocol parsing
The gateway communicates with a wide variety of industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC, PPI, MPI, etc.) and translates them into TCP or MQTT.
2. Data acquisition and transmission
It collects data from PLCs, instruments, energy meters, and transmits it to cloud platforms or local supervisory systems for real-time monitoring and remote control.
3. Data conversion and processing
Raw data from legacy devices is converted and normalized, making it easy to integrate with other platforms and satisfy the requirements of different applications and systems.
4. Fault alarms and maintenance
The gateway continuously monitors device status and performance, sends fault alarms, and supports remote program uploads/downloads. This reduces downtime and increases equipment availability and reliability.
